17 Days Have Flown By!
I can't believe that I have already been here for 17 days, but I also can't believe how much time I have left here.
In 17 days I have:
moved in to a new home,
started a new school,
vastly improved my Spanish language skills,
made plenty of new friends,
gone to a Moroccan Tea house,
explored the Albaicin,
taken advantage of free tapas with my drinks ;) ,
anddd I even went to the other country here on the Iberian Peninsula- that's right! I went to Portugal!
I am really enjoying soaking up the culture and lifestyle of Spain- I eat when they eat, walk everywhere, speak their language, and I most definitely take time to sit at a cafe or bar and enjoy conversation with friends.
I'm sure you're all wondering how the heck I've been here for 17 days and already managed to go to Portugal... right? Well, there is a company here in Spain called Discover Excursions, and they work solely with exchange students to provide low cost weekend trips to Lagos in Portugal and Morocco. My first day of classes, there were people handing out their brochures, so a bunch of friends and I decided to check it out. Next thing we know, we are signed up to spend three days in Lagos.
Lagos is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, such as Praia Dona Ana which is actually in the top 10 best beaches in the world! I was pleasantly surprised to find that our hotel was a five minute walk from Praia Dona Ana, as well as a 10 minute walk from the city center. Our trip included two nights in a hotel, breakfast, parties, excursions (I went ocean kayaking!!) and on Saturday night they took us to Sagres to watch the sunset at the "End of the World."
Make sure you check out my facebook for more photos! I am so excited to be on this adventure and I love to share it with you all!
