When in Spain... leave and go to Morocco.

Something incredible about living in Granada, Spain is the proximity to two different countries: Portugal and Morocco. As you all know, I went to Lagos, Portugal for a weekend in September. Then October 10-12 I had the opportunity to go to Morocco with the same travel company.

To get to Morocco from Spain, you normally take the ferry from Tarifa into Tangier. The ferry is a short 45 minutes, and was very comfortable. Once in Morocco we stayed at a beautiful hotel in Tetouan, We took our first day trip to the blue city, Chefchaouen, which was absolutely jaw-dropping. The culture, food, people, and landscape continued to keep me intrigued. The next day we visited Asilah, which is a beautiful coastal city, and rode camels in Tangier!

Visiting Morocco was an experience which I will never forget for a number of reasons. It is always interesting to go into a new country and see the vast differences there are; yet, still see that beneath all of those differences we are all just part of the human experience. It is beautiful to experience someone else's culture, even if just for a few days. The important thing is respecting the differences for just that; no one is better or worse, or right or wrong- just different.

Granada is an amazing place to be, since a multitude of cultures have mixed and mingled here. Every day I have the opportunity to be surrounded by a lively, and ever-changing city, and for that I am extremely grateful.

Please make sure you check out my facebook for PLENTY more photos from Morocco (and Spain, too!)

Also, sorry that my blog posts are a little bit dispersed. Spain is keeping me very busy with school and activities and things to do and see, but I will try to keep you all in the loop on my big adventures.

Always feel free to message me on Facebook, or by email (tdeck14@gmail.com) if you have any questions about my travels. I would love to talk about them with whoever!
